Clock Tower of the Historic
Port Townsend City Hall

Clock Tower of the Historic Port Townsend City Hall

C and F Insulation was hired to perform the delicate job of insulating the historic and newly updated clock tower. It is a focal point for the entire city. R-30 insulation value was installed using a unique "Stickpin" technique with rigid insulation.

Stick pin hangers are insulation hangers with a self-stick base. This is a common retrofit installation for clean steel surfaces like metal buildings. This technique utilizes a "stick pin" that is glued onto the steel panel surface then used as a hanger for the insulation blankets.

Once the insulation blankets are installed over the stick pin, a friction washer is placed over the pin to keep the insulation in place. You get a rather handsome "quilted" look.

This glorious building was erected in 1891. In addition to most of the city's government offices and council chambers, it also houses the Jefferson County Historical Society Museum and hosts a large collection of Victorian era memorabilia, historical exhibits, and many photographs from Port Townsend's beginnings.
